As an Illinoisan, I’ve witnessed firsthand how too many critical decisions about our state’s future happen behind closed doors, leaving taxpayers in the dark. Every year, thousands of pages of budget language are rushed through the General Assembly with barely a chance for citizens—or even lawmakers—to read them. This is not how democracy should work.

I’m championing the FAST Act because I believe every taxpayer deserves to know where their hard-earned dollars are going—before it’s too late to act. Transparency is not a luxury; it’s a right. The FAST Act will ensure that states like Illinois can’t hide critical spending decisions from the people they serve. It’s time to put power back where it belongs: in the hands of the people.
